Artist Statement . . .

Growing up in a household rich in design, fine art and engineering know-how has made my relationships with things technical and aesthetic fairly seamless. A couple of years out of art school when I had been working as a potter, I found myself faced with the financial responsibility of a family. So I took employment as a wood shop teacher and an architectural builder and contractor. That journey took me through many genres of work with wood and other materials. As you look through my current work, you will see I am returning to my roots as a potter and vessel maker; only this time the material is wood. I aspire to capture some of the things that so fascinate and inspire me about these marvelous creatures we call trees, and sincerely hope the viewer can derive some of the same pleasure.
