Artist Bio . . .

Joseph T. Marks is an artist, curator, critic, consultant, designer and juror. He has been on the faculty at The University of Michigan-Dearborn for 36 years, where he is the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions.

Joe is on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Water Color Society, and is on the Board of Trustees of the Creative Glass Center of America. He is the past vice president of The Dearborn Community Arts Council. In 2008, he received the “Bravo Award,” at the Mayor’s Arts Awards, in Dearborn, Michigan.

He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts from Wayne State University. His paintings have been accepted into exhibitions at the following museums and galleries: The Detroit Institute of Arts; The Butler Institute of American Art; Youngstown, Ohio; The Foothills Art Center, Golden, Colorado; The Toledo Museum of Art; The Chautauqua Art Association, New York and The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

His work also has been featured in numerous locations across Michigan, including: The Livonia Civic Center; The Battle Creek Civic Art Center; The Birmingham/ Bloomfield Art Association; J.L. Hudson’s, Detroit; The Detroit Artist Market; The Scarab Art Club, Detroit; The Meadowbrook Gallery, Oakland University; The Ford Gallery, Eastern Michigan University; The Jesse Besser Museum, Alpena; The Art Center, Mount Clemens; The Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History, Jackson; and the Lansing Art Gallery. In 2007, he had a two-person exhibition with Electra Stamelos at the Village Theater Gallery, Canton, Michigan.
